Let me start by saying I’m not a professionally trained barista, but I proudly sport the “At-Home Barista” title. I love a good seasonal/specialty menu when I visit coffee shops, and my preference for a specialty mixed iced espresso drink is the same when I create them at home.
When I upgraded at the end of 2024 from a Keurig K-Cafe to the Breville Barista Pro, I watched multiple videos and did some research to up my game. To debut my new machine and ever-evolving barista skills, I threw a Christmas Coffee Cocoa Bar party that year with a specialty holiday menu. Family and friends enjoyed it, so I hosted a mini New Year’s version this year for a couple of family members who missed it.
For the past few days, I’ve been indulging in an Iced Chocolate Hazelnut Latte with Marshmallow Whip! This drink is simple to make and a sweet morning treat that fills up my energy tank for the workday. First, I decide if it’s a one- or two-shot kind of day. Once I extract the espresso shot or shots, I mix it with Torani Puremade chocolate hazelnut sauce. Then, I choose my milk. I often use Califia Farms’ Extra Creamy Oatmilk for this one. I prefer to froth my milk even when making iced lattes, but sometimes I opt out and just pour, and I think it’s fine either way. When I have a good espresso, flavored sauce, and milk mix going, I pour it over ice. Finally, I top it off with Favorite Day’s marshmallow-flavored whip!
As I mentioned at the beginning, I’m not a pro, and this drink isn’t rocket science. It’s easy to make, sweet, and aesthetically pleasing, which checks all the boxes I need.
